COVID-19 Testing Laboratory

In response to the COVID-19 health crisis, Integrated Reference Laboratories (IRL) established a fully functional laboratory to test samples for COVID-19, which has been duly certified by the Ministry of Health Malaysia.

IRL’s laboratory performs the Covid-19 RT-PCR (Reverse Transcription Polymerase Chain Reaction) Test, a nuclear-derived method for detecting the presence of the specific genetic material of the COVID-19 virus.

Our trained staff will collect samples from the parts of the body where the COVID-19 virus gathers, such as a person’s nose or throat. We are able to deliver a reliable diagnosis within two days.

RT-PCR tests are diagnostic tests (molecular) that will show if the person has an active infection. It detects the virus’s genetic material, gathered through a nasal or throat swab. RT-PCR is considered the gold standard in diagnosing the COVID-19 virus due to its high sensitivity (accuracy) rates.

All equipment is fully automated, able to release results in two days. We have implemented Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) principles to produce quality test results.

We are listed with the Ministry of Health in Annex 4.
